Thank You

We are grateful for the many contributions that advance our mission of making education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. One of our greatest strengths is the robust scholarship program that changes the lives of so many students each year.

Davis-UWC IMPACT Challenge: Matched Giving

This year, MUWCI alumni, parents, and friends can help unlock $1 million in matched funding for scholarships by making a gift to the college. Thanks to the generosity of Shelby and Gale Davis, all UWCs will benefit from matched funding intended to increase support for scholarships across UWC schools and colleges. Why Give?

Because the world needs changemakers and MUWCI wants to continue educating exceptional young agents of change regardless of their parents' ability to pay. Read the story of Anita, girl courageous enough to rebuild her earthquake-stricken village in Nepal, who will be attending MUWCI on a full scholarship thanks to the support of former parents and current faculty.

"The world needs dreamers, and the world needs do-ers, but most of all, the world needs needs dreamers who do."

- Shelby Davis

What is the Davis-UWC IMPACT Challenge?

UWC Patron Shelby M C Davis launched the Davis-UWC IMPACT Challenge across the 15 UWC Colleges in August 2015.  This new US $15 million match-funding incentive has been designed to encourage and increase donations from UWC alumni, parents and other UWC supporters. Each of the current 15 UWC Colleges will benefit from US $1 million in new funding provided they register an overall increase in the number of alumni, parents, friends and family making gifts.

You can read all about the Davis-UWC IMPACT challenge including how it works and how the funding will benefit UWC here

Who qualifies for the challenge?

UWC Mahindra College's alumni and parents. Those who have been introduced to a UWC school by alumni or parents are also eligible to participate in this challenge as MUWCI's friends.

What is the timeline?

The match runs indefinitely, but matching eligibility and disbursements are based on a yearly cycle running from August 1 to July 31.

How does MUWCI get matched funding?

UWC Mahindra College must achieve an overall increase in the numbers of parents and alumni who give in the current year as compared to the previous year.

What is the matched funding used for?

The primary intention of the matched funding is to further increase support for scholarships but it may also be used for program development, educational and co-curricular innovation, campus enhancement, endowments, or other special projects in line with UWC Mahindra College's strategic plan.

Will my employer's match count?

The Davis-UWC IMPACT Challenge is all about encouraging initiative in the fundraising process and therefore gifts that are matched by a third party will be eligible for the Davis match. This means, for example, that a gift matched by the donor’s employer would be eligible for a further match based on the total sum of the gifts. Other examples include matches from government programs or private initiatives.

What about existing recurring gifts? Do they qualify for the match?

Yes – these gifts would be matched at 50% for any gifts made after August 1, 2015.

How to Make a Gift

Most gifts made to MUWCI alumni, parents, friends and family on or after 1 August 2015 will be automatically matched by the Davis-UWC IMPACT Challenge. There is no additional action required of individual donors in order to activate the match. If you made a gift to MUWCI after August 1, 2015 it will be included if the college is eligible to claim matched funds in the first year of the challenge.
