Relational Education

We believe effective education is relational and active — learning happens in relation to the ideas, places, and cultures surrounding you. Students will learn about India both on- and off-campus by engaging with the diverse languages and communities and travelling farther afield.

They will travel through India, undertake challenging expeditions, and tackle local issues surrounding social, political, and economic inequity. Being in a developing country affords students a unique opportunity to make an impact.

Experience India Week

Experience India Week allows newly arrived first years to get off campus and engage with this vast, dynamic, diverse country we call home. As students begin to explore India's history, culture, development, nature, and politics through their travel, they will acquire a unique perspective of the Indian landscape.

Experience India Week helps students expand their comfort zone and contributes to their individual growth. They won’t just be passive tourists — all our trips require students to proactively contribute to their own experience.

This course provides an overview of India — her history, geography, politics, religions, democracy, diversity, caste, development, and much more. Students are encouraged to maintain an open-minded and thoughtful attitude towards a culture that might be foreign to them. Their interdisciplinary studies will include learning from films, art, texts, and discussion while undertaking critical analysis, research, reflection, and evaluation.

Students experience India beyond our local community during travel weeks.
Project Week

Project Week is an extension of students’ existing Service Learning and Community Engagement programmes. It aims to create a bond between every student, enhance their skills through regular service, and allow them to learn from the best practices in that field.

During Project Week, the ‘process’ is as important as the ‘product’. The learning that takes place during the research, planning, proposing, and implementation stages is just as significant as the actual work carried out at the project location. Project Week should follow the IPARD cycle like regular Triveni activities, which includes Investigation, Planning, Action, Reflection, and Demonstration.

Every year, our first-year students embark on a student-led and faculty-mentored project week wherein students work with leading non-profit organisations across India. Students initiate, research, plan and pitch their own projects with clear deliverables and participate in a public showcase to share what they have learned. We have NGO partners across causes, including children’s rights, biodiversity, human rights, sustainable living, and even Hindustani classical music preservation.
