Kwok Li, Pearson College UWC Alumnus who generously contributed to Pearson scholarships as well as funds for our wonderful pool, passed away on 28th June, 2014. UWC Mahindra College Community gathered  on 5th September to remember Kwok Li who loved and supported the UWC movement  throughout his life.

The memorial was organised to celebrate his presence and the difference it made to the entire community, and show our deepest appreciation and gratitude. The board members of UWC Mahindra College also joined the ceremony. Bharat Doshi, Governor of UWC Mahindra College and Director, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited, was  instrumental in inaugurating the pool and recollected fond memories of the time he spent with Kwok Li. At the memorial, Doshi fondly remembered his life and generosity, and reiterated that inspite of fully funding the pool, Kwok Li insisted that it be named the Li-Doshi pool as a gesture of their friendship. You can read Doshi’s full speech here.

“I’ve been a swimmer all my life,” Wardah, class of ’15, remarked. “This pool is my second home.” Like Wardah, students at UWCMC feel happy and blessed to have a beautiful pool for try outs, swimming lessons, late night conversations, gazing at the stars while floating. At the memorial, students expressed their gratitude through words and sang for Kwok Li “Vem kan segla förutan vind” – his favorite Swedish A Capella musical piece.

We at UWC Mahindra College sincerely thank you for your presence and generosity, Kwok Li! You’re truly missed.
