On 10 August 2015, UWC International announced a USD $15 million funding boost through a gift by American philanthropist, Shelby M.C. Davis. Under the program, charitable donations from alumni, parents and friends to the UWC institutions will be matched dollar for dollar, thereby doubling contributions. Under the programme, UWC Mahindra College will have access to up to $1 million in matching funds for gifts made between August 2015 to July 2016. This will be a fantastic opportunity to kick off the college’s first concerted fundraising drive around the #StepUp Campaign that aims to reconnect alumni and parents with MUWCI. Alumni can choose to designate their gift to support specific projects under three pillars of our Vision 2022.

Shelby Davis said: ‘The world needs extraordinary leadership to navigate today’s complex challenges, tensions and conflicts, as well as to make the most of new opportunities. The UWC movement is ideally suited to provide such leaders and we are privileged to support it. We believe in the potential of UWC students and we believe in the power of leading by example – thus our decision to step up for UWC at this time. We hope many others will join us to provide more UWC scholarships for aspiring youth from all parts of the world.’

We are more than grateful to Shelby and Gale Davis for this most generous gift and their continued remarkable support to UWC and our students. We look forward to a year of generous giving from our alumni and commit to learning about and respecting our supporters’ interests, to find ways to match this interest with institutional priorities, and to engage our alumni & parent community as partners in philanthropy to further the UWC mission at MUWCI.
